Bye, Bye VW Passat

2000vwpassat.jpg

State Farm Insurance called today and gave me the news I dreaded.  My beloved Passat that had served me well so many years was totaled.   They gave me a above average price because I had kept the baby in such nice condition.  But that is no substitute for a good car and the memories and dare I say feelings I had for a very reliable car.The Passat like my memories of it will now fade away.  The car’s demise feeds my melancholy mood towards the loss and it will last over the years as the sentimentality for what was grows.   I’m sure my next vehicle will serve me well but it can never replace my Passat.  And so now I close humming that old tune by Dan Mclean.

So bye-bye, miss american pie.
Drove my VW to the levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinkin’ whiskey and rye
Singin’, “this’ll be the day that I die.
“this’ll be the day that I die.”
